Adult Education: Changing Lives

The SABES PD Communication Center collaborated with ACLS on a video and companion brochure featuring three student success stories from across Massachusetts. The video is entitled Adult Education: Changing Lives. View a full screen version of the video HERE.

Video Transcript

Here are some details about the students who are featured in the video and brochure:

  • Martha Escobar is studying psychology at Berkshire Community College (BCC). She completed English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes at BCC’s South County Center site. After graduating, Martha plans to pursue a master’s degree in counseling and hopes her teenage daughter will follow in her mother’s footsteps and pursue a master’s degree, too.

  • Gemini Walter is graduating from Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) with an associate’s degree in human services. He also works for MWCC, providing community outreach. Gemini earned his high school equivalency credential through the Fitchburg Learning Center and completed MWCC’s Transition to Community College program.

  • Hongfang Li is a patient care technician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She completed ESOL classes at the Asian American Civic Association and graduated from the Certified Nursing Assistant training program at Jewish Vocational Services. She is studying social work at Bunker Hill Community College and is very proud of her son who is a student at Bentley University.
